Large Polyp StonyPlate Corals
Plate Corals emcompass for more than just fungia, including Cyclopensis, Herpetolita, Heliofungia, Diaseris. We find the best color display to be in slightly lower lights, even partially shaded sometimes and they're very easy to bleach. Ideally placement is similar to a mushroom coral, but with a bit more flow. They really enjoy the bottom of a bare bottom tank but many species can be easily irritated by stray sand particals on a sand bed. If your find you're struggling with keeping them long term on your sand bed, and its not a matter of flesh wound from blowing sand, one thing to check is to make sure your sand bed is well siphoned and not trapping nutrients, we move ours bi weekly to siphon underneath them to prevent any build up from irritating them.
