Soft Corals are the easiest place to start with a reef tank! They are hearty, they don't pull large amount of elements from the water column as they grow that need replenishing beyond regular water changes, and as you're learning how to manage your water chemistry as a beginner, they will usually give you a few good days of closing up to alert you, and give you time to correct the issue before they start suffering die off.
